Shade is best for the grass so if you are putting it on your patio or balcony make sure it gets enough shade so the grass will stay fresh.
If you place it in a place where it is shaded it will also help protect it when it rains. You want to make sure that your dog potty box is covered when it rains so it does not fill up with water.
